There’s a really excellent example of a gap fill this morning in Gamestop (GME). Game stop gapped down bigly this morning, to the tune of 18.71. Yesterday’s close, marked in red on the below chart, was at 198.36, and this morning’s open was at 180.00. But gaps have a tendency to want to get filled, and its almost as if the prior day close carries magnetic polarity for the following day’s trade.

Gap Fill Dynamics at Work

After the gap, Gamestop bounced after trading opened and the gap was filled before 2pm ET. But, also notice how that prior day close continues to be an element of support/resistance in the short-term price action of the pair.
